ZDF simply human | Christian Nachtwey underestimated by many

Christian Nachtwey can stand in the special wheelchair despite his paralyzed legs. This allows him to continue practicing his favorite sport, golf. Despite all his energy, Christian Nachtwey’s health is seriously compromised.

His wife, Bettina, helps him overcome crises. Because Christian Nachtwey needs round-the-clock assistance due to his physical condition, he has an assistant. The assistant accompanies him in his daily life and also in the workshop, where Christian Nachtwey repairs standing wheelchairs and handbikes. There, he also develops other aids for people with disabilities. Even people who don’t play golf use the standing wheelchair. Christian Nachtwey spends the winter in Spain, where he organizes tournaments for wheelchair users with one of his two sons.

For years, Christian Nachtwey has been involved with the “Disabled Golf Club Germany e.V.” (Disabled Golf Club Germany). An avid golfer and former motorcyclist, it is important to remain mobile despite his limitations. Therefore, he travels with his handbike as often as possible. Christian Nachtwey actively spreads his message that people should not be underestimated because of their disabilities.
